A new list of the richest people who live or predominantly work in the United Kingdom shows Britain now has the highest number of billionaires per capita in the world.

"Culture, financial services, nice tax regime, good education for their kids and the nice lifestyle where they meet their friends who are all billionaires here."

The BBC reports the 2014 Sunday Times Rich List shows the number of billionaires in the U.K. has topped 100 for the first time since the list was first made back in 1989.

That number is up from 88 just one year ago.

On top of that, The Independent notes the list found 72 of those billionaires live in London — making it the city with the highest number of billionaires in the world.

One of those people on the list that Americans might know is Virgin Records founder Sir Richard Branson whose net worth is an estimated $6 billion. He made The Sunday Times' top 25.

And the wealth in the UK is growing. According to Sky News, the list shows anyone who wants to have a chance of even making it into the list's top 50 would need to have a net worth at least 1.7 billion pounds — or almost $3 billion. In 2004, you would have needed less than half of that — 700 million pounds.

The full "Rich List" of the 1,000 wealthiest people in the U.K. is set to be published in The Sunday Times next Sunday.
