Chief of the Environmental Protection Agency Scott Pruitt and his daughter reportedly rented an apartment that was owned by the wife of a lobbyist who represents companies the agency regulates. That's according to ABC.

An EPA spokesperson said Pruitt rented the apartment during his first six months in Washington, D.C., for about $50 a night — well below what some apartments in the area go for.

But Pruitt was supposed to only rent one bedroom. ABC reported Friday his daughter also stayed in a bedroom while she was interning at the White House.

The EPA's senior counsel for ethics says it doesn't consider the rental a "prohibited gift." But Public Citizen, a left-leaning watchdog group, is asking the EPA to look into it. The group says the lower-than-average rent is a violation of conflict of interest.
