The verdict for Oscar Pistorius is in.

"He is found guilty of culpable homicide."

MSNBC: "Oscar Pistorius has been found guilty of culpable homicide in the shooting death of his girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp. The crime, similar to manslaughter, could carry up to 15 years prison time."

The Telegraph reports as the judge announced her decision Friday Pistorius was comforted by his family in the courtroom.

The judge did say Pistorius had acted negligently when he shot Steenkamp. She told the court, "A reasonable person, with a similar disability, would have foreseen that the person behind the door would be killed, and the accused failed to take action to avoid this."

The judge cleared Pistorius of all murder charges Thursday, saying prosecutors had failed to prove the Paralympic track star intended to kill Steenkamp or what he thought was an intruder on Valentine's Day last year. He would have faced at least 25 years behind bars if he had been convicted of premeditated murder.

Pistorius was also found guilty on one firearms charge, but was acquitted on two others.

According the The Guardian, Pistorius was released on bail Friday. He is scheduled to be sentenced Oct. 13.
