Those 2016 Slang Terms You've Used Are Official Words Now

Learn some new words and earn that "humblebrag."

Merriam-Webster's online dictionary added 1,000 new words ranging from face-palm to prosopagnosia.

Some other notable words that made the cut are first world problem, binge-watch, humblebrag, SCOTUS and FLOTUS. Even the phrase to "ghost" someone made the list. 

And we can't forget Seussian. You know, anything related to Dr. Seuss.

So, how does a word get added to the dictionary? It must demonstrate "frequent and increasing use in a variety of sources," which, therefore, would make it likely to be seen by a reader. Basically, people observe, collect and research new words.
