People ages 27 to 45 can now get a vaccine that prevents certain cancers caused by human papillomavirus, or HPV.
The vaccine is called Gardasil 9. And up until now, it was only available to people under the age of 26.
Around 34,000 people are diagnosed with cancers caused by certain types of HPV every year. And about 11,000 of those people are women diagnosed with cervical cancer. That's according to the CDC.
A director at the FDA said vaccination "has the potential to prevent more than 90 percent of these cancers, or 31,200 cases every year, from ever developing."
