Massive wildfires that have become increasingly common in recent years are a flash point for climate change, which in turn will spark additional devastating fires, research released Friday indicates.

Researchers working on the Phoenix Mars Mission say they've found evidence that liquid water exists on the red planet, though some mission scientists remain skeptical of the conclusion.
If true, the theory would significantly expand scientific understanding of Mars and strengthen the possibility of the existence of life on the planet.

When more than 1,000 University of Arizona students descend on the state Capitol Wednesday as part of a large protest decrying potential cuts to higher education, some of the demonstrators could receive class credit.

When the Phoenix Mars lander succumbed to the Red Planet's harsh arctic winter earlier this month, dedicated amateur space explorers who followed the mission for months felt as though they'd lost a loved one. To them, Phoenix had become more than a complex mix of metal, solar panels and circuits - it was flesh and blood.

NASA officials this week gave the Phoenix Mars lander another two months to live, buying scientists even more time to conduct the final experiments on the red planet's arctic surface.The lander touched down in late May, with officials originally planning for the mission to last 90 days. But they also said Phoenix had the potential to keep working well into the fall.
