Week 11 NFL Capsules
Capsule previews for Week 11 around the NFL. All times Eastern.
SUNDAY:
Pittsburgh Steelers (6-3) at Kansas City Chiefs (2-7), 1 p.m.
Since the middle of the 2007 season, the Chiefs are a pitiful 4-30, a record only the Lions (3-31) can eclipse for futility. Should be a nice way for QB Ben Roethlisberger to spend his first game in Arrowhead Stadium.
Week 10 NFL Capsules
Capsule previews for Week 10 around the NFL. All times Eastern.
SUNDAY:
Cincinnati Bengals (6-2) at Pittsburgh Steelers (6-2), 1 p.m.
Sweeping the Ravens and the Steelers in the same season? It's certainly possible for the upstart Bengals, who are unbeaten on the road (3-0) and in the division (4-0). On second thought? Nah!
Prediction: Steelers, 27-13
Week 9 NFL capsules
Capsule previews for Week 9 around the NFL. All times Eastern.
SUNDAY:
Baltimore Ravens (4-3) at Cincinnati Bengals (5-2), 1 p.m.
The Bengals already surprised the Ravens once this season, beating them, 17-14, last month on a last-minute TD pass. If it happens again, it would be wise not to dismiss the Bengals as playoff contenders.
Prediction: Ravens, 30-20
Week 8 NFL Capsules featuring Vikings-Packers
Week 8 preview capsules around the NFL. All times Eastern.
SUNDAY:
Denver Broncos (6-0) at Baltimore Ravens (3-3), 1 p.m.
The Ravens have lost three in a row by a combined 11 points. This is the second of three consecutive games in which they play a team a week before the Steelers face them. There goes the unbeaten angle.
Prediction: Ravens, 27-24
NFL Capsules including Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Minnesota Vikings
Week 7 NFL picks from the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette's pigskin prognosticator.
All times Eastern.
Minnesota Vikings (6-0) at Pittsburgh Steelers (4-2), 1 p.m., Sunday
NFL Capsules including Saints-Giants, Ravens-Vikings
Capsule previews for Week 6 around the NFL. All times Eastern.
SUNDAY:
Cleveland Browns (1-4) at Pittsburgh Steelers (3-2), 1 p.m.
The Browns have lost 11 consecutive games to the Steelers and 17 of 18 overall. The only more numbing stat is this: They have not scored an offensive TD in nine of their past 11 games.
Prediction: Steelers, 30-6.
Week 2 NFL Capsules
Capsule previews for Week 2 around the NFL. All times Eastern.
SUNDAY:
Carolina Panthers (0-1) at Atlanta Falcons (1-0), 1 p.m.
Panthers QB Jake Delhomme has committed 11 turnovers in his past seven quarters. That blows away Steelers QB Kordell Stewart's six turnovers in the first two games of the 2002 season.
Prediction: Falcons, 34-14
Week 1 NFL preview capsules
Capsule previews for Week 1 around the NFL. All times Eastern with 2008 regular season records in parenthesis.
SUNDAY:
Miami Dolphins (11-5) at Atlanta Falcons (11-5), 1 p.m.
The only team that made a bigger turnaround than the Falcons in 2008 was the Dolphins, who won 10 more games than the previous year. What's more, they have won their past five games on the road.
Steelers hope rookies step up in secondary
Keenan Lewis is unlike most Pittsburgh Steelers rookies. He does not think it's hot at Saint Vincent College, even though the heat index on the field Sunday was 98, and he is not shy about stating what he thinks is a realistic goal this season.
Steelers face tall order with Fitzgerald and Co.
Nose tackles don't notice much in the middle of the line. The snap of the ball, the center's facemask, the way the center may attempt to block, perhaps. For sure, nose tackles know what the quarterback is doing and where the running back is going.
