For one day, at least, Lynne Koplitz knew the rush of Internet fame.
"A couple of months ago, weirdly, I was the third-most-searched name on Google for one day," she says with a laugh. "It was so crazy. I was like, 'What is THIS?' "
She credits part of her high Web profile to "Z Rock," the Independent Film Channel comedy series in which she co-stars. The first season aired in 2008. Season Two begins at 11 p.m. EDT Sunday.
Koplitz plays Dina, the harried manager of ZO2, a trio who plays kid parties by day but tries to rock out legitimately at night.
She's a tough-as-nails type who keeps her rocker boys in line. However, she knows how to play the game. Dina will throw herself at Blues Traveler lead singer John Popper just to secure a record contract for the band.
The girl knows how to get down and dirty when the opportunity arises.
Koplitz revels in that.
"She's a good manager, and she does what she has to do," Koplitz deadpans, "but her first love is the band."
The role on "Z Rock" comes after years of TV misfires. Koplitz hosted a dating show and a four-woman-fronted talk show, both of which didn't last a season. Up until now, she's primarily worked as a standup comedian, finding work at colleges.
She's not surprised "Z Rock" is finding love from audiences. It has a following despite the fact it's seen late at night and on a niche channel. Koplitz says those are not factors anymore.
"Look at me," she says. "I'm a middle-aged woman. You won't think I'd still be watching MTV, but I do. I haven't missed an episode of 'Bromance' yet."
