Spring cleaning done a little at a time

Face it, housework is a drag. Watching TV is more fun.
What if you could combine the two and actually get something done while you cheered on your "American Idol" favorite or the baseball team? Be thankful for commercial breaks, which will give you just enough time to get just enough done to think you are a regular Martha Stewart. Or maybe her messy sister, Mary. Commercial breaks can be anywhere from 30 seconds to 3 minutes or more. For shows that last an hour, that means almost 15 minutes of commercial time. Imagine what you could get done if you got off the couch for those 15 minutes.
Make your own to-do list or use ours:

Load or unload the dishwasher.
Catch up on ironing, or at least do the clothes for the next day. (Heck, you can do that while the show is on!)
Wipe down bathroom counter or clean the toilet, which almost seems better than watching commercials.
Clean the bathroom mirror.
Organize a junk drawer. Or just junk the junk.
Dust shelves, coffee table, end tables.
Vacuum dust bunnies that fell from shelves, coffee table, end tables.
Cut coupons, then organize. Maybe not.
Change sheets on bed, one commercial at a time.
Move clothes from washer to dryer/from dryer to basket and fold while you watch. (Works for "American Idol," not so much for the intricate plot of "Lost.")
Put shoes away.
Write a thank-you note.
Pay bills, sign school papers, make a to-do list.
Change the dog's (or cat's or bird's) water.
Clean out your e-mail or Facebook account. (It counts as a chore, really.)
Go through junk mail.
Clean out your purse.
Go through magazines, ripping out articles or recipes you want to save. Recycle the rest.
Dish up a bowl of ice cream. (OK, that's not a chore, but it can be done in the allotted time. This one we tested.)
