After 13 seasons and near-cancellation once again, "King of the Hill" has reached its 250th episode.
Getting to the milestone hasn't been easy.
"We have been completely canceled and all different degrees of canceled," says creator Mike Judge.
The 250th episode (slated to air 7:30 p.m. EDT Sunday, Fox) has Texan Hank Hill, his family and friends dealing with an unusual request. Hank's late father's last request was to have his ashes flushed in a toilet once used by Gen. George S. Patton.
The toilet is in an old bar, where Hank and his friends get into an argument that gets them ejected. After Hank finally snaps under the pressure of trying to fulfill the request, he enlists his friends to help him accomplish what seems like the impossible.
Keeping "Hill" on the air has been almost an impossible mission. Even if the network didn't threaten to pull the show because of sluggish ratings over the years, Judge has had doubts himself about whether it should go on.
"I keep thinking I've got one bad season in me, and then we end up having some really good episodes, I think," he says.
"Then I think the next one will be the bad last one."
