ShareThisOn a recent Sunday night, just three days before "South Park" premiered its 13th-season opener, the script was only half-written.
The animation was nowhere near complete.
It would seem a recipe for disaster. But, the hit series (10 p.m. EDT Wednesdays, Comedy Central), under the guidance of Matt Stone and Trey Parker, has always lived life on the edge. This season will be no different.
"Maybe three or four times each week, we think, 'Oh (expletive), this is gonna be the week when we can't get it done,' " says Stone.
Parker and Stone always work on the series at the last minute, always waiting until deadlines force them to get down to business. That's just how they like to do things.
"We don't do a live show, but we kind of harness some of that energy," Stone says.
Life has been this way for the two throughout the years.
"We kind of need that (chaos) to work," Stone says. "We're, like, 'We have to do something right now. It's going on the air in just a few minutes.' "
This latest season has already skewered the Jonas Brothers and their purity rings. Does Stone really think the rings make someone "lame," as the episode suggested?
"Well, I don't know," he said with a laugh. "I didn't have one in high school, and I was still lame."
Though Parker and Stone may be pushing deadlines to get each week's "South Park" episode done, they do have a complete list of ideas for the season. The show will eventually touch on the recession.
"That's one of those big things we want to get right," Stone says. "We'll be talking about what kind of social commentary we want to make and do it right."
Parker and Stone won an Emmy for the topical episode they did on the late coma patient Terri Schiavo.

-- "Kings" (8 p.m., NBC). It's called a modern telling of David and Goliath -- except everybody's wearing pants and shoes.
-- "Roast of Larry the Cable Guy" (10 p.m., Comedy Central). Jeff Foxworthy, Lisa Lampanelli and Maureen McCormick take stabs.
MONDAY
-- "Gossip Girl" (8 p.m., CW). Carter returns to make Chuck's life hard.
TUESDAY
-- "Dancing with the Stars" (9 p.m., ABC). The first elimination is announced.
-- "Law and Order: Special Victims Unit" (10 p.m., NBC). Carol Burnett tugs on her ear in a very dramatic role.
THURSDAY
-- "Myles of Style" (8:30 p.m., HGTV). Kim Myles brings her creative sense to hopeless homeowners.
FRIDAY
-- "Dogtown" (10 p.m., National Geographic Channel). Misfit dogs get ready for new owners and a better way of life.
SATURDAY
-- "The Locator" (9 p.m., WE). A new season of finding lost loves begins.

Take for instance the recent battle with the U.S. Navy and the Pirates...the newest southpark episode tackled that within days.
Matt Stone and Trey Parker are some of the smartest and funniest people around, as they make great points and mix it in with humor also. I am sure a lot of celeberties do not find some of their humor though eg. Kanye West lol
