In these recessionary times, employers are receiving higher numbers of applications for open positions. With growing piles of resumes and cover letters to review, hiring managers today must quickly decide which candidates are a potential fit. Don't damage your chances of making the initial cut by failing to carefully proofread your documents for typos and grammatical errors. The following job seekers lacked attention to detail:
"TECHNICAL ABILITIES: Proficient in PC and Mack."
A candidate with a truckload of computer skills.
COVER LETTER: "Please eamail me with any job openings for sales represtitives. You'll definitely feel at ease that I'll do the job sucesfully with no mistakes."
We'll definitely need more persuading.
COVER LETTER: "I hank you in advance for reviewing my materials."
So, your name is Hank?
"WORK HISTORY: I currently run me own business."
My, my, my.
These job seekers invented new words:
COVER LETTER: "Please see my attached proresume."
An amateur mistake.
"QUALIFICATIONS: Over the last five years, I have had a heavy concentraction on providing world-class service."
Next time, concentrate on proofreading your resume more carefully.
COVER LETTER: "I am reliable and eager! Proactivate is my favorite word!"
We didn't know it was a word.
Finally, a bad attitude won't impress prospective employers. To wit:
COVER LETTER: "Im sorry for my poor grammar, wait no im not, no one cares."
We do!
