A Utah man was struck in the thigh Monday afternoon by an arrow that missed its target.
The man was working in an industrial area of Salt Lake City when the arrow hit him in the inner left thigh, according to police.
Salt Lake City Police Detective Dennis McGowan said an employee at a nearby business had been doing some target practice with his bow. He had set up some targets near a Dumpster and was firing at them. But one of the arrows missed, traveled 200 yards and penetrated the victim's thigh about a quarter of an inch, McGowan said.
That man was taken to a hospital and was expected to be fine, McGowan said.
The person who shot the arrow was cited with a class B misdemeanor for shooting a projectile in city limits.
"That law applies to guns, bows and arrows, slingshots," McGowan said. "You can't do any of that -- even on private property. There are ranges specifically set up for those uses."
