Humans, Cylons in dire straits as new season of 'Battlestar' begins

When last we saw the crew of "Battlestar Galactica," both the humans and Cylons were wandering a ruined, rubble-strewn Earth beach. As the new season begins at 10 p.m. EST Friday on Sci Fi Channel, they confirm the planet was nuked 2,000 years before their arrival and radiation still permeates the water supply and food chain.
More momentous discoveries follow that don't jibe with established Colonial history, Starbuck (Katee Sackhoff) comes face-to-face with a startling new mystery, President Roslin (Mary McDonnell) burns her Bible, Adama (Edward James Olmos) challenges Cylon hybrid Tigh (Michael Hogan) and, of course, an outta-nowhere death reduces the number of Colonials by one.
The premiere is both surprising in the new twists it reveals and, at the same time, full of those still, dramatic moments that have become a "BSG" hallmark. As usual, viewers are advised to steel themselves for many morose moments, too.
Perhaps during the Colonials' archaeological dig on what's left of Earth they'll find the remains of a well-stocked pharmacy. These characters need an ample supply of anti-depressants, stat.

new season

I thought the episode was to be shown today and was mightily disappointed to find it to be tomorrow. A twist as unhappy as a BSG hallmark. I have however found a universe of viewers and webcasts, podcasts, paintings to gorge myself upon in my disappointment. I have seen all of the BSG episodes from downloads in order and some twice. God I was ready to start the new season tonight.
I can't wait until Friday's show.
