Seizing his moment on college football's big stage, Texas Tech quarterback Graham Harrell has grabbed the lead in this week's Scripps Howard News Service Heisman Trophy poll. And he did with a flair for the dramatic.Harrell connected on a 28-yard touchdown pass with Michael Crabtree with one second left Saturday to defeat No. 1 Texas and their Heisman candidate, QB Colt McCoy, 39-33. It capped a stellar performance for the senior, who passed for 474 yards and two TDs.Harrell earned five first-place votes to move from third last week to first. The leader for the past three weeks, McCoy fell to second, just ahead of Oklahoma QB Sam Bradford, who earned three first-place votes. Defending Heisman winner Tim Tebow of Florida was fourth; Crabtree broke into the poll at fifth.Compiled by the Rocky Mountain News in Denver, the Scripps poll is in its 22nd year, making it the longest-running weekly Heisman ranking in the country. The final poll, taken in December, has predicted the Heisman winner correctly in 18 of the previous 21 seasons. Ten voters select five players each week.
