Web sites put unwanted items on the 'cyber curb'
Submitted by SHNS on Fri, 09/19/2008 - 14:38.
Don't trash those unwanted things sitting around the house. Instead, put them out on the "cyber-curb" for someone to pick up. In addition to listing in the free section on craigslist.org, here are three Web sites that encourage recycling.
Freecycle.org. The Web-based forum has area-specific groups in which users can offer or take free items that are listed, "in an effort to keep unnecessary waste out of landfills," its site says.
Membership: Free, but registration is required. Select the group you want to join and sign up.
How it works: Post items on the site and wait for responses to come in. All items must be free, legal and appropriate for all ages.
Reuseitnetwork.org. This also operates as an online forum. "Our goal is to find new uses for unwanted items that would otherwise be thrown into the trash," the Web site states.
Membership: Free, but registration with a local group is required.
How it works: Besides posting things you want to give away, you also may list what you're seeking.
Swaptree.com. This site focuses on books, CDs, DVDs and video games.
Cost: Free except for shipping costs. The site offers printable shipping labels for a fee.
How it works: Add items to the "have" list for things you want to get rid of, and the "want" list for those you're seeking. The site acts as a mediator to find you a trading partner. All trades are one-to-one, and the members are responsible for shipping costs.

The Centre for Conflict Resolution(CENCOR) is located in Accra Ghana. The centre is manned by 4 volunteers. We are running a pro-bono Mediation Centre and conducting Mediation training for local community opinion leaders. We think this will contribute to building a just society in which
all can leave in collaborative harmony without violence.
We would be most grateful to receive some offer of office equipment - a few computers, a printer and scanner to support our work. We would also be most grateful to receive books and CDs on conflict Resolution and Alternative Dispute Resolution.
God Bless and peace to all mankind.
