American flags flying high
Submitted by davidnielsen on Fri, 08/22/2008 - 05:55.
The folks with the Beijing Olympic Committee Organizing Committee (BOCOG) thought of everything.
BOCOG came up with a way to make flags wave when they reach the top of the flagpoles during medal ceremonies.
We should be thankful for their innovation. It provided us with a rare opportunity to clearly see three American flags flying high Thursday night during the medal ceremony for the 400-meter dash.
Roughly 6.7 billion people inhabit our planet. The three fastest in the 400 meters – LaShawn Merritt, Jeremy Wariner and David Neville -- are all Americans.
The other 6,999,999,997? Their flags will have to wait until 2012.
