This week marks a fairly momentous occasion in the annals of pop culture: It was 40 years ago this week that McDonald's introduced the Big Mac.Small potatoes, you say? Not when you consider that the Big Mac is now sold at stores in 120 countries worldwide.In honor of that momentous occasion, we offer a few Big Mac facts that you can trot out the next time you're sitting in the drive-through:-- The original cost of a Big Mac was 49 cents-- There are an average of 178 sesame seeds on a Big Mac bun-- The Economist's Big Mac Index checks prices around the world.-- The Big Mac first appeared at McDonald's restaurants in Uniontown, Pa., in 1967.
