Jesus picture survives blaze

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. -- A Thursday morning fire that destroyed a home here left a picture of Jesus Christ untouched amid the garage's charred remains, according to a police report released Friday.
The blaze, sparked by a "clip-on" light in a child's bedroom, ravaged the house and left the garage contents "burnt and destroyed" except for the picture of Christ, staff in his hand and surrounded by sheep.
Cynthia Wright, 53, her daughter, Samantha, 21, and Samantha's two young daughters live in the home. The two elder Wrights had left for work at the time, and there was no one in the residence.
As for the brightly colored picture of Jesus Christ, investigators found it on a metal shelf that was collapsed and bent from the heat and flames. The image, titled "The Good Shepherd," was a "full page picture from a Holy Bible," the report states.
"Cynthia said the Bible had belonged to her late husband, and the cover had burnt off, thus exposing said picture," the report states. "This was seemingly an amazing occurrence that caught the attention of everyone on scene."
