Week 7 sleepers

For owners beleaguered by bye-week and injury blues and in need of a one-week replacement, you could do worse than any of these sleepers for week 7:

Quarterback

Tampa Bay’s Jeff Garcia at Detroit—Garcia has not been at all spectacular this season but he has been error-free, with no interceptions. This week he faces Detroit, the 30th ranked pass defense in the league. The Lions give up 263.6 passing yards per game and have allowed 10 touchdowns through the air.

Running back

Cincinnati’s Kenny Watson vs. N.Y. Jets—With Rudi Johnson listed as doubtful, Watson is poised to make his third straight start. The Bengals face a Jets defense that has given up six rushing touchdowns this season and allows 131.5 rushing yards per game.

Wide receiver

Miami’s Ted Ginn Jr. at New England—Ginn has done little in his rookie season but with this week’s trade of Chris Chambers to San Diego, Ginn moves into the starting lineup and should be thrown to several times. The Dolphins are likely to fall behind early and take to the air, leaving Cleo Lemon looking for Ginn, Marty Booker and Derek Hagan often.

Tight end

New Orleans’ Eric Johnson vs. Atlanta—Johnson is a hit-or-miss tight end but this week faces a defense that has been generous with tight ends recently. The Falcons have allowed 10 passing scores this season with only 3 interceptions.
