'Bests' and 'worsts' of the new TV season

Take this "best"-and-"worst" list with a grain of salt. So much is dependent on how the quality of a show holds up in, say, the fifth episode, not the first.

In addition to the "bests" listed below, I'm also cautiously optimistic about "Aliens in America" (The CW), "Back to You" (Fox), "Big Shots" (ABC), "Chuck" (NBC) and "Gossip Girl" (The CW).

I'm also fairly confident that "Cavemen" (ABC) deserves a spot on the "worst" list, but the pilot ABC sent out this summer is being re-done, which is the only reason I'm withholding it from the list.

BEST

"Reaper" (The CW)

"The Big Bang Theory" (CBS)

"Pushing Daisies" (ABC)

"Women's Murder Club" (ABC)

WORST

"Carpoolers" (ABC)

"K-Ville" (Fox)

"Viva Laughlin" (CBS)
