LIFESTYLE

FILMS
FANTASTIC-FILM (Vancheri, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette) -- If Oscar-winning movies are the equivalent of a gourmet feast and "Spider-Man 2" and "Batman Begins" fine meals at a sit-down restaurant, the "Fantastic Four" adventures are like fast-food kids' meals. They may temporarily satisfy you, but they're not memorable or made with the fanciest ingredients. 600.
SURFER-FILM (Norman, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette) -- In many ways, the Silver Surfer is as much an enigma now as he was when he made his debut in the pages of "The Fantastic Four" 41 years ago. The Marvel Comics character, now making his big-screen debut in "Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer," is suitably alien and wholly consistent with Stan Lee and Jack Kirby's original vision of the character. 600. With photos: SH07F146SURFER, SH07F147SURFER, SH07F148SURFER.
TENCANOES-FILM (Hayes, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette) -- "Ten Canoes" is more interesting as a film project than fascinating as a movie experience. Presented as a dramatically enacted oral history, it's at times slow and difficult to follow, and the small white-on-white subtitles are sometimes impossible to read. Nevertheless, it's the first full-length feature filmed entirely in an Australian aboriginal language. 400.
FAMILYGLANCE-FILM (Pittsburgh Post-Gazette) -- A capsule look at films from a family perspective. 800.
SECONDLOOK-FILM (Villarreal, Arizona Daily Star) -- A look at the Oscar-winning film "The Deer Hunter," and its shooting, which was filled with cinematic legends. 500.(Editors: One of a series of reviews that revisits classic films available on DVD or video.)
TELEVISION
POSTSOPRANOS-TV (Owen, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette) -- Now that "The Sopranos" is done, but surely not forgotten , every TV network will be jockeying in hopes of being home to TV's next great drama series. The odds are one won't come around soon, but here's a look at one of the candidates. 600.
HIDDENPALMS-TV (Morrow, SHNS) -- Following his scene-stealing bit as Beverly Lesley on "Will & Grace," Leslie Jordan has turned a bit more serious in the new series "Hidden Palms." 400.
