United 93 Has a Shot
Submitted by Phil Villarreal on Wed, 12/13/2006 - 12:40.
Paul Greengrass’ sterling re-enactment drama, “United 93”? is picking up steam for an Oscar nomination. The New York Film Critics Circle and Washington Critics both tabbed it as their top film and it landed a spot in the Broadcast Critics’ top 10. If the Academy were to follow suit and hand the film a nomination, it would be an incredible feat for a movie released on an Oscar unfriendly April release date. It seems “United 93”? is strong enough to have real staying power, and that’s a testament to how well it’s managed to hold up under the full-force Oscar campaign for “World Trade Center.”? The film’s resurgance is inspiring to see, especially since I’m a fan, but I’m still wondering why everyone seems to be blowing of “Rocky Balboa.”? Grrr”¦
