When someone doesn't like the wedding registry

Q. My aunt called to complain that she didn't like anything on our registry and wanted suggestions for something else to buy us. What am I supposed to tell her?

A. While your aunt probably means well by wanting to find the perfect gift, she might not realize how exasperating her offer is. To satisfy both her wants and your needs, try to point her in the right direction. Say, "Thanks for your offer, Aunt Betty. I can't think of anything specific, but perhaps something decorative for the house? I do love colored glass bowls." If that doesn't work, give her suggestions of places to shop (like your favorite home stores). That way, you'll know where to return it if you don't like what she picks out.
