Very public breakups get nasty

Breaking up was a very public thing to do in the last couple of weeks, and things got ugly for the beautiful people.

Few got uglier than the Paul McCartney-Heather Mills and Sara Evans-Craig Schelske divorce filings and accusations. A look at the high-profile accusations, courtesy of the staff of The Sacramento Bee:

1. The hits: Evans said her husband verbally abused her. Mills said Sir Paul pushed her over a coffee table, stabbed her with a wine glass and verbally abused her. Ugliest: Paul and Heather.

2. Backstage passes: Evans said Schelske loaded his computer with porn, pictures of himself nude and images of himself having sex with other women. Mills said McCartney wouldn't allow her to have a bedpan and didn't want her to breast feed because, basically, he didn't want to share. Ugliest: Sara and Craig.

3. Showtime: Everything about the Macca relationship is high profile with the details of the allegations spilled out in the Brit papers. Evans bailed out of ABC's top-rated "Dancing With the Stars" to devote herself to her family troubles. Ugliest: Sara and Craig.

4. Royalties and loyalties: Evans and Schelske have three children: Avery, 7, Olivia, 3, Audrey, 2. She's the Academy of Country Music Female Vocalist of the Year. McCartney and Mills have Beatrice, 2, and something like $1.6 billion. Ugliest: Call it even between kids and cash.

5. Lyrics. From Evans' "Born to Fly:" "So I confessed my sins to the preacher/About the love I've been prayin' to find/Is there a brown eyed boy in my future, yeah/He says, girl you've got nothin' but time." From McCartney's "Heather:" "And I will dance to a runcible tune/With the queen of my heart/Heather." Ugliest: Neither, of course. And you know peppy popster McCartney won't venture there.
