Lights, camera, you.

Quick tips for getting yourself on the not-so-silver screen.

1. Record your movie.

It can be as easy as taking digital photos or recording a short clip on your digital camera. You can also use a camcorder or the camera in your cell phone. Webcams cost as little as $10.

2. Transfer your movie.

With cell phones, it's as easy as sending the video clip through an e-mail. With digital cameras and camcorders, you need a cable and software such as iMovie or Windows Movie Maker or the program that comes with the device.

3. Edit your movie.

You can edit your movie with software or directly on the Web. Both let you drag and drop the clips and sequence them. You can also add effects, transitions and titles.

4. Compress your movie.

Most sites like YouTube limit the size of the file, so you need to shrink it. Most editing programs allow you to compress your movie when you select "export" or "send."

5. Upload your movie.

Click "upload" on the Web site. If you use a Web site to edit your movie, you might not be able to publish it on other sites. You might also have to wait before your movie shows up on the site.

6. Share your movie.

That's it! Send the link to friends or publish on your blog or MySpace page.

Great camera tips!

Great tips...I've noticed that people seem to have figured out how to upload photos, even the non-techies. But...it's been more difficult to get video uploading into the mainstream. YouTube not withstanding, not too many "regular folks" are uploading videos.
