Snakes a-Dead
I caught the 10 p.m. screening of "Snakes on a Plane" last night. It was only half full, and this was in a very midnight movie friendly area of town. This is bad news for the studio - a sign that people have either gotten tired of the incessant Internet marketing, or they aren't eager to shell out $9 for a movie that prides itself on an idiotic concept that's fun to goof on. Of those who showed up, I'd say about a third were really into it, clapping, cheering and laughing at all the appropriate places. I laughed a few times but left disappointed overall, and it seems that was the majority feel of the audience. Let's just say there's a reason Samuel L. Jackson needs to call people to get them to see the movie. Unless my scenario was out of the ordinary, this could mean a very painful bite to the film. Live by word of mouth, die by word of mouth.

ya
I went to the midnight showing of Snakes too and found it not even half full. I came amped up with my buddy to cheer and some assh*ole started mean mugging me and said "are you gonna talk thru the whole movie ? i don't want to hear u" on FREAKING opening night.! this little prick came to see snakes on a plane and he wanted no commentary. as soon as i saw the empty seats i was like awwww damn .. after reading in the paper today that there was no screening for reviewers.. i figured everyone would go see it for themselves. this flick should have been released MONTHS ago when the concept was funny. I still remember all my film buddies gettin amped for it and I was under the impression that it was coming out that month... 5 to 6 months later its out and everyone is going to see Will Ferrells tired TALLEDEGA nights which looks like some totally recycled crap. Wow, classically structured mainstream movies freakin blow these days. Even though Snakes was pretty intense and had its moments.
