Say hello to my little friend
Boise State belongs.
Say it again. BOISE STATE BELONGS.
Boise State proved they belong when they beat the big, bad Oklahoma Sooners, 43-42, in the Fiesta Bowl Monday night.
Boise State, a school from the Western Athletic Conference, wasn't even supposed to be in this game. If the greedy powers that run the Bowl Championship Series had their way, no school from a small conference would ever play in a BCS bowl.
But the Broncos finished the regular season undefeated and forced their way into the big schools' party. But all of the so-called experts thought that OU would crush the little Broncos.
Boise State proved that the only real experts in college football are the ones who are calling for a college football playoff system to replace the BCS malarkey. The Broncos' stirring, shocking overtime victory over the Sooners proved that once and for all.
It's a shame that the game didn't finish until after 1 AM Eastern time. Fans who fell asleep missed one of the most exciting finishes in bowl history.
Boise State made a statement for the little guy, proving that all schools - regardless of their conference affiliation - deserve a chance to play in the big bowls - or better yet, for the national championship.
