Reader's question: Who should I start?
Reader's question for week 10:
I have Edgerrin James, Frank Gore, Thomas Jones and Lamont Jordan as my running backs. Which 2 would be the most productive picks for this weekend?--Lamar
Reply: The easiest call is to SIT LaMont Jordan. Awful offensive line, no quarterback, he's still ailing, only one 100-plus yard game this year, and playing against one of the best defenses in the league--Denver--which has only given up one rushing touchdown this season.
As much as I like Edge, things just aren't going well in Arizona and he's been a pretty big disappointment thus far. He shouldn't get a lot of yards against Dallas, a pretty stingy run defense. However, he could reach the end zone and offers more potential in scoring-only (no points for yardage) leagues.
I really like Gore to have a good week against Detroit. He's torched some bad defenses and gets mixed into the passing game a lot. Both Detroit and San Francisco are at the very bottom of the league in scoring allowed, so I expect both offenses to put some points on the board.
I think Thomas Jones should have a good week also. He started the year off slowly but then was really hot last month before he, Grossman and the Bears ran into Miami. And while the Giants defense is pretty good, with Strahan out and a host of other injuries on defense plus Amani Toomer done for the year and Plaxico Burress ailing, it's the perfect bounce-back opportunity for Jones and the Bears.
So in short, I'd go with Gore and Jones.
