The PS3 May Not Be So Expensive After All

The gaming community has been groaning for the past three months over the $599 price tag of the souped-up PlayStation 3 (there's a scaled-down model available for $100 less). But as time passes, $599 is starting not to look so bad. At Microsoft's big press event in Europe today, the company announced the Xbox 360's HD-DVD player attachment would run $200. Youch. Tack that on to a $100 wi-fi adapter for the $360 and it runs you $700 to get your 360 online from your living room and able to play next-generation video discs. The PS3 includes all that for $100 cheaper, and if you're willing to skimp down to the lesser PS3 model, you save $200. That'll buy you at least three games. Of course, Nintendo's Wii is looking like the best deal at all at a scant $250. It's my guess that all three systems to slash their prices by May of next year after they fatten up on the hardcore gamers this holiday season.
