My Razzie Nominations
It would be great to be a member of the Academy — which I’m not — so you can vote for Oscar winners, but at least the Golden Raspberry Award Foundation lets me have my say. Here’s a look at what I checked on my 2006 Razzie nomination ballo, which arrived today (I didn’t make up the categories or the nominees, so no prudes complaining about Sharon Stone’s lopsided breast nomination). Write-ins are denoted by *. They let you vote for up to five nominees:
WORST EXCUSE FOR FAMILY ENTERTAINMENT: The Shaggy Dog, Hoot and Over the Hedge*
WORST SCREN COUPLE: Seamus Davey-Fitzpatrick & Mia Farrow, “The Omen,”? and Sharon Stone’s lopsided breasts, “Basic Instinct 2”?
WORST SCREENPLAY: “Basic Instinct 2,”? ”˜The Omen,”? “Poseidon”?
WORST DIRECTPR: Brian DePalma, “The Black Dahlia,”? Kevin Smith, “Clerks II”?*
WORST PREQUEL OR SEQUEL: “Basic Instinct 2,”? “Scary Movie 4,”? “Van Wilder: The Rise of Taj,”? “Clerks II”?*
WORST REMAKE OR RIP-OFF: “All the Kings Men,”? “The Shaggy Dog,”? “Eragon,”? “Little Man,”? “Pink Panther”?
WORST SUPPORTING ACTOR: M. Night Shyamalan, “Lady in the Water,”? Terry Bradshaw, “Failure to Launch,”? “Seamus Davey-Fitzpatrick, “The Omen”?
For some reason, Milo Ventimigilia and Burt Young were inexcusably placed on the ballot for “worst supporting actor.”? With Milo I can at least see where they’re coming from, I guess, because it’s not easy to fill Sage Stallone’s shoes, but Burt Young? Come on! The guy is so phenomenal he deserves a best supporting actor Oscar nomination. OK, back to my ballot:
WORST SUPPORTING ACTRESS: Kate Bosworth, “Superman Returns,”? Carmen Electra, “Date Movie,”? Jenny McCarthy, “John Tucker Must Die”?
WORST ACTRESS: Jessica Simpson, “Employee of the Month,”? Sharon Stone, “Basic Instinct 2,”? Julianne Moore, “Freedomland”?
WORST ACTOR: Tim Allen, “The Shaggy Dog,”? Steve Martin, “The Pink Panther,”? Brandon Routh, “Superman Returns”?*
WORST PICTURE: “Basic Instinct 2,”? “Little Man,”? “Eragon, “The Pink Panther”?
