"La Vie En Rose"

Edith Piaf had a great gift but a horrible life.

The French singer was blessed with a throaty, expressive voice and cursed in just about every other way.

If you go see "La Vie En Rose," don't expect any sugar coating.

In fact, expect tears to put in a pushy appearance several times.

She had crazy-skinny French eyebrows, full lips and Betty Davis eyes that outdid Betty Davis' eyes.

Sure, she had her good times. They seemed to always be overshadowed by one unhealthy addiction or another: alcohol, drugs, a married lover.

You start to wonder why she gives a "Padam."

Luckily, the ending will take you back up.

I have no regrets for having seen it.
