I watched the second episode of John from Cincinnati, and this week's show was definitely more watchable. Maybe I'm getting used to all the ne'er-do-wells and nincompoops. Still, it is hard to find a character to relate to.
It was nice to see Jim Beaver as Vietnam Joe. But it would be much better to see him playing Ellsworth on Deadwood.
Paying taxes unites us. It also divides us. People can pay five and even six times more in state and local taxes than other folks in similar circumstances making similar incomes.

"John from Cincinnati"
There seem to be indications that "John from Cincinnati" is going to turn out to be a very significant TV show.
Food for thought in the article . . .

my personal jury is still out
the characters all seem way to one-dimensional to me. and john makes no sense whatsoever. something needs to get moving there ASAP.
i totally agree that this
i totally agree that this show is going to be significant. ed oneill has earned my undying respect as an actor. his character bill is my favorite. i have only ever thought of rebecca demornay as a cheesy actress from the hand that rocks the cradle. she has definitely changed my mind in this role. david milch is a tough guy to work for. he hands you the script moments before you are set to film. any actor that can work in this way and deliver the punch the script calls for, can truly call themselves an actor's actor. i am loving this show and so far david milch hasnt disappointed. it took about 3-4 episodes before deadwood caught on and look at the beauty of that show.
something significant happend
in episode 6, john's monologue that ends the show gives significant clues of who he is and why he is here. if you have not watched it, or saw it and found it foolish, watch it again and really listen to what he says. i find myself watching most episodes twice because it's hard to keep up with the "meaning" of what everyone says.
this show is going places and i only hope that it continues on the air. the writing is phenomenal and the charachters have started to develop and i'd hate to see it cut short.
