John from Cincinnati - Deadwood

ShareThis

So the brilliant minds at HBO decide they like David Milch's farfetched idea for John from Cincinnati better than his existing show Deadwood.

So they cancel Deadwood and give its time slot to JFC. Jesus F--n Christ.

Now to rub it in, Milch and HBO are using actors from Deadwood in JFC.

First Jim Beaver, the erstwhile Ellsworth on Deadwood, shows up as Vietnam Joe.

Now Dayton Callie, formerly Charlie Utter on Deadwood, appears as shady Freddie.

And Garrett Dillahunt, who was Francis Wolcott on Deadwood, plays Dr. Smith.

It is infuriating to see these actors playing bit parts on a freak show instead of acting in the richly textured world of Deadwood.

How long until any more out-of-work Deadwood actors show up? Where's W. Earl Brown when you need him?

"John from Cincinnati"

In my humble opinion, the team involved in "John from Cincinnati" is trying to deal with some factors that are significant.

I think they are delving into important areas that are somewhat disguised.

Food for thought in the article ...

Deadwood

I have not seen JFC, nor will I...I guess I am just some research geek who came back to TV for Deadwood. When HBO canceled Deadwood, I canceled HBO. I did it before season 3 so I would not contribute to the ever deepening pockets of HBO's stock holders, and I knew they had already paid the actors. And now as we all know, I can now check season 3 out of the library. I know that, because I spend a lot of my time there, as opposed to chucking dimes at movie channels. I do think that David is a genius, but I also think that he is scampering after tossed coins in the gutter, as opposed to serving the art. Sitting here warm (cool) and secure on the banks of Whitewood creek in Deadwood, I wonder how much money he needs? Will he buy new cowboy boots or a saddle with all that money, and parade around like all the other make believe cowboys, or does he dream at night of waxing his surf board, smoking a little dope, and pissing in the sand....
With a cute little stomp on the floor, and the air of someone whose pretending to be mad, he accepted Deadwood's cancelation and toddled off to titilate the masses with JFC. Piss on him, and the John he rode in on.

Deadwood

Amen, brother! Thanks for your comment.
