Fla. man goes hog wild on pork-rind rampage

An apparent pork rind rampage at a food market in Fort Pierce, Fla., landed an "irate and cursing" man in jail this week, according to a police report.

The manager/owner of the market told Fort Pierce police that Anthony Wilson, 39, entered the establishment and "began ripping open six bags of Pork Skins."

In general, pork rinds are deep-fried, cured pork skin pieces. The irregular, Styrofoam-like puffed curls typically are sold in plastic bags with barbecue and/or other flavorings. Fried pork skins are not to be confused with pickled pork rinds, a rich and buttery -- much like foie gras -- treat often enjoyed refrigerated.

In addition to attacking the pork rinds, Wilson stands accused of destroying lottery tickets.

When police arrived, Wilson apparently wasn't as happy as a pig in mud. He was "acting irate and cursing that he had not done anything," according to the affidavit.

"Around (Wilson) was the property he had damaged," the affidavit states.

The manager/owner of the market wanted to pursue charges because Wilson lacked the cash to pay for the trashed items.

The affidavit didn't specify who squealed on Wilson or whether he actually ate any pork rinds.
