Da Babe starts blogging
What is that they say, yesterday I couldn’t spell blogger and now I are one? Then again Microsoft Word’s dictionary doesn’t recognize blog either.
Hard to believe a journalist who started out inhaling toxic lead fumes in a composing room backshop and learning how to read type upside down and backward (a handy skill when interviewing someone who has typed memos on the desk), would eventually end up blogging. But here I am.
It’s safe to say that in my idealistic youth, one of the reasons for becoming a journalist was to somehow help folks by passing along information.
Forty years later and I end up with the perfect gig: Babe Waxpak, my alter ego who tries to answer any and all questions from readers on sports cards and memorabilia.
Da Babe is far from a know-it-all, but he has sources around the country who do. The end result is that lots of information gets shared.
Of course, that means skirting around the sports scene and all that great material that used to fill out columns. Today that usually doesn’t make it into an answer about a sports card, but certainly may find its way into a blog.
OK, I am the blogger. Are there any bloggees out there who comments about sports cards. Memorabilia, forgeries, authentication, Pete Rose and the Hall of fame, steroids or jus anything else for that matter?
We’d like to hear from you.
