Ask Carley: Thank-you brunch for bridesmaids nice but not necessary

Q: I know a bride can host a bridal brunch to thank her attendants for being in the wedding, but is it necessary? I'm trying to stay within our budget, but I want to have one if it's expected.

A: You don't have to have one, but it's a nice thank-you to your bridesmaids. Here are a few ways to do it on the cheap: Treat them to brunch at your favorite diner, invite them over for a hearty breakfast and do all the cooking yourself, or (if you're not the brunch-eating type) take them all out for a drink once you're back from the honeymoon.

It doesn't have to be a formal event -- just a time for all of you to get together when there's no favor assembly or dress shopping involved! Get more ideas for thanking your attendants at TheKnot.com/bridesmaids.
