Ask Carley: Make your own enclosures for pre-made wedding invites

Q: I want to buy pre-made invites, but I want to make response and direction cards myself to save some money. Is it OK if they don't look exactly the same as the invites?

A: It's definitely OK. That's actually a great way to put your own personal touch on pre-made invites. But trying to duplicate flowers or scrollwork from the invites isn't worth the effort and, unless you have a graphic-design background, they could end up looking like a cheap copy.

Have the enclosures coordinate by choosing colors and a typeface similar to those on the invite. Keep them simple, and no one will know they didn't come as a set.
