All-Star pitching mess

At the recent MLB All-Star game, we nearly had a messy situation where a position player would have had to pitch.

Fortunately the AL scored a run in the bottom of the 15th inning and won the game. Otherwise it might have gotten ugly as both teams had used up all their pitchers.

There is a very easy way to ensure that this will never happen again. Have each team be expanded by one roster spot to include the long reliever with the best ERA in the league.

These "emergency" pitchers could not be used by a team unless all of the other pitchers on the squad had played.

By stashing a long reliever in reserve, there would be no more worries about marathon All-Star games.
