My Network TV launches amid non-stop soaps

The first of two new networks launching this fall begins broadcasting Tuesday, and its name is a mouthful: My Network TV.
Although the name may be big, its show budgets are small, relying on inexpensive soap operas based on the foreign telenovela format six nights a week (new episodes air Monday through Friday with a recap episode Saturday, check local listings).
MNT came to exist after The WB and UPN merged to form The CW, leaving Fox-owned UPN stations in several large cities without a network.
Texas teen aims for the top of the pop charts

Teen sensation Paula DeAnda began to make her mark opening hometown shows for hip-hop artists Nelly, Baby Bash and Frankie J. in the spring of 2005.
Then the 16-year-old R&B/pop artist from Corpus Christi, Texas, signed up with music legend Clive Davis, who helped launch the careers of Janis Joplin, Carlos Santana, Bruce Springsteen and Whitney Houston.
Marvel's 'Civil War' series stalls on the creative front

September is another busy month in the world of comics, and for a change the humongous crossovers at Marvel and DC are not dominating the news.
At Marvel Comics, a recent press release announced delays on the ongoing "Civil War" miniseries, a storyline crossing over into most of Marvel's major titles.
