Brian Stetler started his blog, TVNewser.com from his dormroom at Towson University, Maryland in 2004. Mediabistro, picked it up soon after and recently announced that Stetler had been hired away, by none other than the New York Times.

John Curley's Flickr farewell

John Curley, deputy managing editor at the San Francisco Chronicle has taken a buyout (or whatever else you want to call it). He posted his farewell on his flickr page and it has drawn some great comments. Sure it is heartbreaking in the way that all newspaper layoffs are -- and it seems our hearts are breaking far too frequently these days.

Search engine safety

Virus and security firm McAffee has released their findings on The Safety of Search Engines today, following up on last year's report. The study finds that overall, 4.0% of search results link to Web sites that can be categorized as "risky."
