Race boosts city's greenway
Runners who pound the pavement Saturday during the 2008 Mercy Health Partners CrossKnox 15K Race will find traditional concrete and asphalt underfoot, but otherwise the scenery will be mostly green for the expected 600 competitors. Parks and Recreation Director Joe Walsh said the event was conceived last year as a way to make Knoxvillians aware of the burgeoning greenway system in the city - and, of course, to offer a first-rate road race.
