At the age of 92, Hope Smith won’t fall for just any idea. But she fell — 10,000 feet to be exact — for the idea of skydiving during a visit this week to see her grandson, Scott Smith. The opportunity to skydive proved irresistible to this Merrill Gardens resident, who took advantage Monday of an opportunity to fulfill one of her lifelong dreams. As an early-morning threat of rain cleared and the clouds broke apart, Smith jumped out of an airplane at 10,000 feet in a tandem freefall and parachuted safely to the ground six minutes later.
